Overview: The North East Community Marina is seeking a motivated and dynamic individual to join our team as a Development Associate. This position plays a crucial role in our organization's growth and sustainability by focusing on networking, securing grants and external funding, and providing research and documentation support to the North East Community Authority board.
Responsibilities:
Grant and Funding Acquisition:
- Identify and research potential grant opportunities from government agencies, foundations, and other sources.
- Prepare compelling grant proposals and applications tailored to the specific requirements of each funding opportunity.
- Develop compelling grant proposals, sponsorship packages, and fundraising campaigns to secure financial support.
- Manage the grant application process from start to finish, ensuring deadlines are met and all required materials are submitted accurately and on time.
- Maintain relationships with funders and partners to enhance funding opportunities and collaborations.
Networking and Relationship Building:
- Cultivate relationships with potential donors, sponsors, and stakeholders to increase support for the organization.
- Represent the North East Community Marina at networking events, conferences, and community meetings to promote our mission and initiatives.
- Maintain donor and sponsor relations through regular communication, acknowledgment, and stewardship activities.
- Collaborate with community organizations, government entities, and businesses to explore partnership opportunities.
Research and Documentation:
- Conduct research on relevant topics, trends, and best practices to support strategic decision-making and program development.
- Assist the North East Community Authority board with compiling and analyzing data, preparing reports, and creating presentations.
- Maintain accurate records of grant applications, funding sources, and donor communications.
Administrative Support:
- Provide administrative support as needed, including scheduling meetings, preparing meeting agendas and minutes, and coordinating logistics for events and presentations.
- Monitor industry trends and best practices in fundraising and grant management to optimize strategies and outcomes.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, business administration, communications, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Proven experience in grant writing, fundraising, or development for nonprofit organizations.
- Strong understanding of private-public partnerships and governmental funding processes.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas clearly and persuasively.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective relationships with diverse stakeholders, including donors, sponsors, community leaders, and governmental officials.
- Strong research and analytical skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with fundraising databases and tools.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in a community development or marine-related organization.
- Knowledge of local, state, and federal funding sources and grant opportunities.
- Demonstrated success in securing grants and achieving fundraising goals.
